	Description A swimming pool is an artificially enclosed body of water mainly used for water-based recreation. It is built from materials such as metal, plastic or concrete. In order to prevent growth and spread of bacteria, filters and chemical disinfectants such as chlorine, bromine or mineral sanitizers must be used.

Maintenance Checklist

• Be sure the alkalinity and pH levels are balanced daily to prevent hazy water and/or damage to pool.
• Use balancers to help maintain the proper pH and alkalinity levels necessary in a pool.
• Sanitize the pool daily as needed to kill bacteria, algae and any other living forms in the water.
• Clear debris with skimmer basket daily to help keep pool water circulating and fresh.
• Add a weekly dosage of algaecide to prevent and control algae.
• Add a weekly dosage of clarifier to prevent cloudy water.
• Vacuum, leaf skim, brush and backwash the pool as needed.

Troubleshooting - Pool/Spa

Problem	Potential Cause	Potential Solution
No power to pump.	The motor has no power.	Reset the circuit breaker. Check the timer to ensure it is set correctly.
	Low water level and the prime has been lost.	Put additional water in the pool/spa.
The pump will not prime.	The valves are incorrectly positioned.	Position the valve correctly.
	There is a leak in the suction line.	Repair the leak.
Heater is not working.	The pilot is not lit.	Light the pilot.
	Gas valve is on the pilot setting.	Turn the pilot setting to “ON”
	No power to the unit.	Relight pilot or reset the breaker.
Water pressure is too low or too high.	The filter is blocked.	Backwash the filter and clean the cartridge.
	There is a clog in the skimmer and pump basket.	Clear the clog in the skimmer and pump basket.
	The valves are incorrectly positioned.	Position the valves correctly.
	There is a water leak.	Repair the leak.
Filter is malfunctioning.	Tripped circuit breaker.	Reset the circuit breaker.
	Unplugged motor or timer is set incorrectly.	Plug the motor in or reset the timer.
	Clog in the filter.	Locate and unclog by either replacing or back washing the filter.
